Artist

My interest has been in the direction of realism.  This includes work in the study of light to create a dramatic effect of the natural surroundings. Nature becomes the composition for my landscape paintings.

I am greatly influenced by the romantic American landscape movement.  This movement coincides with the belief in manifest destiny, which lead the exploration of the American migration.  The work of Winslow Homer who expressed the life of his own time and Albert Bierstadt who captured the sprit of the American west are examples that drive my desire to paint.

I should have been born one hundred years earlier to experience the nature, as did the early Hudson River painters.  Each of my paintings has individuality with a touch of the past, present and future.  Capturing a moment in time to be preserved for future generations is one of my goals.  When I question the purpose and function of art in today’s society, the answer is that tomorrow is enriched with today’s works of art and becomes a record of the true history of our time.
